Clinical boundaries

Healthcount is a maintenance companion, not a clinical tool. This page explains what it does and does not do, and how it signposts people to clinical support when needed.

What Healthcount does

  • Supports maintenance by helping people notice small changes early — before they become bigger setbacks
  • Uses low-burden signals: an occasional weight datapoint, optional activity and sleep trends, and an optional medication schedule with lightweight check-ins
  • Stays quiet when things look stable and nudges when signals suggest drift
  • Suggests one next useful action at a time — practical, low-effort steps
  • Signposts to clinical support when the right next step is to speak to a prescriber, pharmacist, or clinician
  • Provides anonymised, aggregated reporting for funders — without exposing individual data

What Healthcount does not do

  • Does not prescribe medication or recommend starting, stopping, or changing any treatment
  • Does not diagnose medical conditions or interpret symptoms
  • Does not advise on dose changes, dose timing, or missed-dose recovery
  • Does not replace clinical care, GP appointments, or specialist consultations
  • Does not share individual health data with employers or insurers

Safe signposting

When Healthcount detects a signal that suggests clinical support may be appropriate, it uses clear signposting language. Examples include:

“This looks like something to discuss with your prescriber or pharmacist.”

“If you're experiencing persistent side effects, speak to your clinician.”

“If you need personal guidance, your prescriber is the right person to ask.”

Healthcount is designed to support, not replace, the relationship between a person and their clinical team.

Healthcount does not replace clinical care. It doesn't prescribe, diagnose, or advise dose changes. It supports maintenance and signposts you to clinical support when needed.
