Lower doses are cheaper, and the price goes up as your dose increases. It's also on the NHS if you're eligible. Always check the full price with the pharmacy first.
What is the cheapest weight-loss medication in the UK?
Orlistat (Xenical) is the cheapest. It's a capsule you take with meals. Of the injections, the lowest prices we checked this month or last are £88.96 (0.25mg) a month for Wegovy and £143.96 (2.5mg) for Mounjaro. Use the filters to sort by price or set a budget.
Do I need a prescription, or can I get these through a programme?
Both. Some pharmacies sell against a one-off private prescription. Others put the medicine inside a monthly programme with clinical support. The access tag on each result tells you which one applies.
Which weight-loss medications come as a pill rather than an injection?
Orlistat and Mysimba are tablets, and so are two GLP-1 medicines. The Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide) was approved by the MHRA in June 2026 and went on sale in the UK in July 2026. Foundayo (orforglipron), a once-daily GLP-1 tablet, was authorised by the MHRA on 10 August 2026. It is available on private prescription only and is not on the NHS. When will retatrutide or CagriSema be available in the UK?
Not yet. Retatrutide and CagriSema are still in late-stage trials. They're listed here with no price so you can see what's coming. Orforglipron, which used to be in this list, is now licensed in the UK and sold as Foundayo, with prices in the table above.
Why can't I buy phentermine in the UK?
Phentermine was withdrawn from the UK market in April 2000 after an EU-wide review of the older appetite suppressants found their risks outweighed their benefits, and it has never been re-licensed. It is also a controlled drug here. The combination pill Qsiva (phentermine plus topiramate) was refused an EU licence in 2013 over heart, psychiatric and pregnancy safety concerns. The US took a different path: phentermine has stayed on sale there since 1959 as a low-cost short-term option, and the combination is sold as Qsymia. So you will see phentermine on American sites, but no legitimate UK pharmacy can sell it.
