Who writes Healthcount

Everything on this site is written by me, and the price data is collected by me, by hand, from each pharmacy’s own page. I am not a doctor, and nothing here is medical advice.

What is Healthcount?

Healthcount is a free UK-built web app for people taking GLP-1 weight-loss medication such as Mounjaro, Wegovy or Zepbound. You write one line a day about food, doses, symptoms and weight, and it keeps the timeline. It is built for the maintenance phase and for coming off the medication, the part that usually gets no support. It sets no diet, no target and no dose, and it is not medical advice. Healthcount also publishes the GLP-1 Price Index, open data on what UK pharmacies charge for these medicines.

Why I built it

I have had a difficult relationship with food for decades. I know what it is like to spend all day doing sums. Calories. Steps. Water. Hours. Sleep. And then the bigger one: what I would have to do tomorrow to make up for today.

Then there are the rules. Only skimmed milk. Never drink your calories. No cake in the house. Limit your carbs.

The medication quiets all of that, which is why people take it. But some people do not want to be on something for the rest of their lives, and others cannot afford to be. Both need to know they can manage without it. That is the part nobody helps with.

You can lose a great deal of weight in a few months from a form you filled in online. For the same outcome from surgery you would have had a psychological evaluation, nutrition counselling, screening for eating disorders, and follow-ups for life. After you order weight-loss medication online, you are on your own, and most of the people who will answer a question want you to reorder.

What Healthcount publishes

The GLP-1 Price Index is original data. It tracks what UK online pharmacies advertise for GLP-1 weight-loss medicines, on a fixed basket, released monthly. The current release is September 2026.

  • Every figure links to its source. Each price is read from the pharmacy’s own public page, and that page is linked next to the number so you can check it.
  • The method is published. How the basket is defined, how prices are collected, and what is left out of the medians.
  • Published figures are never quietly edited. Each release is frozen. If a number turns out to be wrong it gets a dated correction on the release page and a line in the change log, and the original stays visible.
  • It is free to quote. Published under CC BY 4.0, with a CSV download per release.

What Healthcount never does

  • No pharmacy pays to appear in the price index, or to be ranked in it.
  • No affiliate links on any page that names a prescription-only medicine. Not a policy preference: advertising a prescription-only medicine to the public is illegal in the UK.
  • No page calculates, suggests or schedules a dose. Dosing decisions belong with your prescriber.
  • No before-and-after promises, no targets, and no scores.

What I am, and what I am not

I am Anna Bromley, BA, MA, founder of Healthcount. What I bring is decades of my own difficult relationship with food, years of reading the research, and a method I publish so you can check my numbers rather than trust them.

I am not a doctor, a pharmacist or a dietitian. Where I quote research I link the study. Where a figure is an estimate I say so. If you find something wrong, tell me and I will correct it in public.
